Those looking to stay up to date with Darkest Dungeon 2, the developer suggest signing up to their newsletter. Narrator Wayne June will also be also be returning, as we imagine a Darkest Dungeon game without him wouldn’t be much of a sequel. The two biggest revelations here are that the turn-based combat will return (with improvements) and that the new game will be released into Early Access first. You can read their story here, but we’ll summarise some of it for you. Thankfully this isn’t all we know about Darkest Dungeon 2, as developer Red Hook Studios has provided some exclusive details – along with an interview – to PC Gamer. We know that Roman numerals for sequels are interchanged with the numbers on a regular basis by most people, but it’s a bit odd to see the developer do it themselves. One oddity here is that the teaser showcases a Roman numeral II to denote a second game, but the title specifically uses a regular “2” instead. This seems to suggest that they will be making a return for this new title. This was announced recently by way of a very short teaser trailer subtitled “The Howling End”, which can be viewed below.Īt less than a minute long there isn’t much to glean from the video, except for the fact that the silhouettes of the characters, which are playable ones from the first game. Darkest Dungeon – the absolutely brutal roguelike of RPG and Lovecraftian ilk from 2016 – is getting a sequel simply named “Darkest Dungeon 2”.
